Endospores are special dormant structure which develop withing the vegitative cells of gram positive bacteria and have extraordinarily resistant to environment stresses and they can remain viable for thousands of year. Infact some endospores have retained their viability for around 100,000 years

Indefinitely as far as we know. Spores are hardy and can survive anything short of a few minutes in hot bleach or steam. The problem lies in creating and reviving the spore.

Does the bacteria tetanus need a host to survive?

No. The bacterium Clostridium tetani forms an endospore and can survive for long periods of time. When the endospore is introduced into a favorable environment it begins to metabolize.

How bacteria can survive harsh conditions?

With the help of endospores, or thick-walled structures that help the bacteria survive harsh conditions.

What does a endospore to to a bacterium?

Endospores allow bacteria to survive in hostile conditions where growth would be impossible such as desication or extreams of heat.

Why does an endospore form?

a bacterial cell will form (essentially morph into) an endospore when its environment changes. If the cell has adapted to survive in warm, moist conditions with an abundance of proteins and then if these conditions the bacterial cell has adapted to are changed, conditions aren't warm or moist then as a survival mechanism it will essentially morph into an endospore. Then when conditions change back to the cells original ideal conditions, tiny chemoreceptors on the endospore will activate genes in the cell to morph back into its normal form.

What can Bacteria form to survive when envioromental conditions are severe?

When growing conditions are not right, many bacteria form

What do endospores do for bacteria?

It allows the bacteria to create a resistant and dormant cell that can preserve the original cells genetic material when put under extremely unfavourable conditions

How do bacteria survive harsh conditions?

They form an endospore. An endospore is a thick cell wall that helps protect them. Endospores enable bacteria to lie dormant for extended periods of time when the environment is unfavorable (such as extreme temperatures, radiation, extreme pH levels, extreme pressures and harmful chemical agents). Then, when the environment becomes more favorable, the endospore can reactivate itself to the vegetative state.

Small rounded thick-walled resting cell?

I believe that you are referring to a bacterial endospore. Only a small number of bacteria can produce these (Gram-positive Firmicutes). Endospores are very tough and allow the bacteria that can produce them to survive high temperatures, pressures, drought, etc.

Type of spore that can remain dormant until favorable conditions for growth arise?

A type of spore that can remain dominant until favorable conditions for growth arise is called an endospore. It refers to an asexual spore that develops inside some bacterial cells.

Why discovery of endospore was important in microbilogy?

the discovery of endospore allow the scientist to set a best temperature for stelization, and it have alerted them in the synthesis of different medicine, to what kind of medicine can pernatrate the endospore of a specific microorganism
