Dog can certainly eat porridge. My first dog only eat porridge and would not eat dry rice. Whenever we serve him rice mixed with the same wet canned dog food, he would just sniff at it but would not eat.
We will cook brown rice and mix it some natural ingredient and a canned of dog food. It do really smell good even to human.
Porridge in traditional Chinese culture is a good for the stomach. It is not only good for human but also for your dog.
However, it is advisable to give your dog some raw bones or chunky food to chew on if you are feeding soft food to it regularly. This is good for strengthening his teeth.
