Yes, they love vegetables, especially lettuce. Never, feed a rabbit lettuce. It can cause diarrhea and a disease that can kill them. Yes they love vegetables but you can't feed them certain things like lettuce. Cabbage can not be given in excess. It doesn't really have much nutritional value, though it is a good treat every now and then.

Rabbits can eat romaine lettuce and bok choy!

Cucumber is okay for rabbits as a treat. Treats (certain fruits and vegetables) should only be given to rabbits in moderation. A bite or two every couple days is a good guideline.

Some rabbits like cucumber -- some love it, especially on a hot summers day when it has just come out of the fridge! Some rabbits don't like cucumber, though. Taste is an individual matter -- in rabbits, just like in humans!

No, baby rabbits can't eat cucumber. See the related questions (linked below) for more info and links. Cucumber isn't good for any age of rabbit because it can lead to illness and anyway it doesn't have much nutritional value. Adult rabbits can have cucumber as an occasional treat (although most rabbits would prefer a bite of apple or carrot), but baby rabbits shouldn't have treats until they're 6 or 7 months old.

Some people say wild rabbits won't eat your cucumbers, while other people say they will. Maybe it depends on environment (if there's lots of other good food around, maybe they won't), and individuality.

Cucumbers are not recommended for pet rabbits because they're low in nutritional value and they're too watery. Some people feed small pieces of cucumber to their rabbit as a treat. Treats should always be strictly limited, one reason being that too many will reduce your rabbit's appetite for hay, which it needs to eat tons of every day in order to stay healthy.

"Wild cucumber" (Echinocystis lobata) should never be given to a rabbit because it's toxic.

No, baby rabbits can't eat cucumber. Cucumber is a treat food for rabbits, and rabbits shouldn't have any treats until they're about 6 months old. Baby rabbits should have unlimited 100% 24/7 access to fresh water, high-quality pellets, and hay (alfalfa hay, or a mix of grass and alfalfa).

  • At 12 weeks, baby rabbits can start on fresh dark leafy greens (like dark Romaine leaves, basil, carrot tops, dandelion), but only one at a time (for at least a few days before the next new veg), under close observation for ill-health, and in tiny portions.
  • At 6 months they can start on treats (like carrot, or cucumber), but only in tiny, tiny portions, one at a time (for a week or so before the next new treat), and under close observation for ill-health. Even in adult rabbits, treats should be limited to small portions every few days (the House Rabbit Society recommends no more than 2 tablespoons per day for a 6 pound adult rabbit).
  • From 7 to 12 months, baby rabbits should slowly transition to an adult diet (which means reducing the pellets, and switching from alfalfa to grass hay only, as alfalfa isn't good for healthy adults).

Yes, rabbits can happily eat the skin of cucumber although it should not be given in excess as it can cause gas.
