Feeding raw chicken as part of their regular diet is fine. It's not the best not to mix kibble and raw meat however, in small amounts it shouldn't matter.

I currently feed my dogs on a prey model diet and raw chicken + bones is the staple food of that diet.

Actually, yes, raw meat IS better for dogs than cooked meat. This is why many people choose to put their dogs on a raw meat diet. Wolves and dingos, relatives to the domesticated dogs we have today, exist exclusively on raw meat. Dogs are NOT people, and have enzymes in their saliva and intestinal tracts that we do not, enabling them to digest raw meat and kill the bacteria.

Of course dogs are also prone to parasites, which is why for domestic dogs its important to buy raw meat from a trusted distributor that tests for such things.

Cooking meat changes its chemical makeup and completely destroys the nutrients within the meat, and some dogs actually may develop Allergies as a result of eating cooked meat, particularly if the meat is seasoned or has other additives such as cornmeal. Dermatological reactions are especially common in dogs who are sensitive to these additives.

Dogs are made naturally to eat raw meat. Your dog won't get sick like we would if he eats raw chicken cause dogs have way stronger stomachs than we do.

A raw diet would be the best for your dog. Commercial diets are the reason that our dogs have so many health problems cause of all the junk that is in it. 80% of dogs get cancer in their lifetimes from eating dry dog food. Yes, some people disagree with the raw food diet cause they say "Raw chicken carries salmonella and will kill your dog". This is absolutely false as dogs have enzymes that will fight the bacteria in the dog's gut. Additionally, meat doesn't stay in a dogs system as long as it does in a human's digestive system, so bacteria doesn't have time to spread.

I would suggest a raw diet for your dog because it keeps your dog from all those health problems they can get. I don't suggest asking your vet about what they think of a raw diet for your dog due to the fact they are trained through those commercial dry dog food companies and you buying dry food is how they get their money. There are many websites to guide you how to switch to a raw diet for your dog.

Another answer

Vets don't recommend it because their training comes from the commercial dog food diet. That's why they don't recommend raw diet because you buying the dog food is how they get paid. Go to rawfed.com, and rawfeddogs.com

Yes. Have you ever read the ingredients in dried dog food? Chicken is a common one. It's used in cat food too.

Nope. The bone structure of a chicken is different to other animals. If you were to feed it to your dog the bone of the chicken would splinter.

What should you do if your dog ate raw pork?

To some degree this depends upon the size of the dog and how well your dog chewed the chicken bone before swallowing. If you have a small dog, I suggest keeping a close eye on him/her for the next couple of days. If he becomes less energetic, has trouble breathing or has a sore belly when you try to touch it, you'll need to take him to the vet for examination. For a larger dog, unless he practically inhaled it whole, he'll probably be OK - just watch for any signs of pain or inflammation.
