A relationship can certainly survive if two people work at it. A relationship that is abusive can have the survival chances increased if the two people involved can seek healing and attempt to remedy the situation as best they can.
Healing will not be instant, neither witll trust from the abused persons perspective.
The thing to remember is that a relationship that is successful is one that is based on the other persons needs being recognised and met and where the willingness to the other persons needs far outweighs the need for the person themselves.
Any relationship can survive - even the most abusive one - if the parties so deicide. The question is: is the relationship worth preserving and working on.
