If you're talking about neutral, elemental sodium, it is possible to ionize it into the charged Na+ nucleus and an electron.

Sodium is much too small to undergo radioactive decay into hydrogen or helium.

Water. That is because water is a compound and compounds can only be separated by chemical means. Salt water is a mixture, and sodium and gold are both elements. Hope this helps!

Is mixing silver nitrate and sodium chloride a physical or chemical change?

I'd think that it is a chemical change... Mixing NaCl(Sodium Chloride) with AgNo3(Silver Nitrate) in aqueous states is simple precipitation... unless u're talking about mixing the powders by themselves?

When sodium reacts violently with water is it physical or chemical property?

Chemical Property (as a layer of oxide is formed on the surface)

Explain why are carbon and copper classified as elements?

An element is a substance that cannot be broken down any further by chemical reactions. While carbon and copper readily combine with other elements to form compounds, they cannot themselves be broken down any further by a chemical reaction. The definition of element (for chemistry) is thus: one of a class of substances that cannot be separated into simpler substances by chemical means What this means is if you take a substance, say .... sugar. You can put it through chemical processes that will reduce it down to its core components. For carbon from sugar, its simple: burn it. The hydrogen and oxygen will burn off as water vapor. Of course, even elements can be broken down, but not by chemical means. The use of a particle accelerator or nuclear fission is required, but I think we can all agree, that is by no means a "chemical" process. That's nuclear :)

No. Making mixtures are physical changes and the chemical substances will not change.

Why cooking food an irreversible change?

The definition of a chemical change is when one or more new substances have been made. Also chemical change cannot be reversed by simple physical means e.g. if the change was brought about by heating then cooling the product won't get you the original substances. So boiling water is not a chemical change (as you can re-condense the steam) whereas boiling an egg IS as the protein has been permanently changed (denatured).

Is mixing baking soda and vinegar a chemical or physical change?

Mixing flour and baking soda is a physical change; the process of mixing them together does not in itself cause them to change into any other chemical. However, when the pastry is baked, then there will be chemical changes.

What cannot be changed into simple substances by chemical reaction or heat?

You think probable to atoms.

Do antibiotics have any chemical substances?

The definition of a chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical composition. So yes, antibiotics contain chemical substances. Although, antibiotics will employ some sort of living microorganism, instead of just one simple chemical substance.

What substances can blow up if you mix them together?

Thousands. It's a simple chemical reaction. Learn about the chemical chart (table) and then figure it out from there.
