Can you apply for section 8 if you are unemployed?

I have no job. I collect unemployment. I reside with my husband and our 3 teenagers. We are now in the process of a divorce. I have to move out. I am planning to have our teenagers to livewith me. I want to apply for section 8. Can I sign up before we move out.

An eviction doesn't necessarily bar you from Section 8, now known as the Housing Choice Voucher Program, unless you were evicted from a public housing project or for an arrest for a drug or violent offense.

Terminated from what, your job? If you were terminated from the section 8 housing program then chances are you will not be able to reapply unless you were terminated for specific term, such as five years.

I cannot see how a housing authority would allow you receive one of their vouchers when you already hold a voucher and are going through an eviction process. In fact this is probably illegal.
