Well, the police might take you to the emergency room following an incident and you got put on an involuntary psychiatric hold, and were diagnosed on the locked ward. You wouldn't see your doctor that way, but its an extreme way to get diagnosed.
I'd recommend seeing your doctor.

You can go to pretty much any doctor to get diagnosed with depression disorder. Depression is more common than people know so most doctors are pretty well trained in the symptoms of depression.

I was never alerted to menstrual cycle disturbances by any doctor and I never experienced one for the three years I was under medication.
