If you get a bachelor's degree in science would it make you an RN?

Not by its self and only if it is in the right area. To become a RN (Registered Nurse) you usually have to pass a certain test ( the NCLEX-RN) and before you take the test you must either have a BS in nursing, a Associate of Science in Nursing, or graduate from a Hospital diploma program.

â 14y agoTo become a nurse, you must complete an accredited program in nursing and obtain a license. A bachelor's in health science alone would not grant you entrance into the field. There are three options to become a nurse as follows.

Because you already have a bachelor's degree, the diploma would be an option, however in terms of length of time, you might be better off pursuing the associates in science in nursing. Some of your general education courses will apply to the associates degree. The critical science courses of concern are as follows.
* human anatomy and physiology I & II * Microbiology * chemistry (inorganic, organic and biochemistry) Once all the prerequisites have been completed, it will take two years to complete because of the sequential nature of the program that at the associates level would include nursing I, II, III, and IV. Each runs one semester each.

Because you already have an existing bachelor's degree and wish to stay in the nursing field, you could look into becoming a nurse practitioner which would require a master's degree in nursing. Nothing if both degrees are in the same field. I have my A.S. in Radiologic Technology and a friend graduated with me and decided to not take algebra so she got her A.A.S. We both make the same amount. The only reason to get your A.S. is so you can get your AA easier and futher your education for a Bachelors Degree.
