Can you catch mew or celebi in Pokemon firered without using a gameshark or cheats?

It's not recommened, the best way is to trade from emerald after you get mew from the faraway island.
that's because if you cause mew to appear in the wild using cheats, it will never obey you.

∙ 13y agoThe only legal way (now that Nintendo is no longer doing Mew promotions) is to find and trade with someone who has Mew.
Of course, that only gets Mew into your Pokedex, since chances are your trading partner will want Mew itself back.
Still, you might get lucky and be able to purchase a used version of Red (or Blue or Yellow) which happens to have a Mew. That's how I wound up with mine.

∙ 12y agoYes, but it is very, very hard. You must convince someone to trade one with you, or know the dates for future Nintendo events that are giving out mews.
