Hi I am 55 years of age. My ex husband is 61. We were married for 22 years while he worked for the railroad. He just recently retired from the railroad after 40 years and is drawing his retirement. I am asking can I draw my portion of his railroad retirement and my own social security that I have paid into working through my own jobs through the years past. It depends on the type of retirement benefits. A private retirement plan should be reviewed for spousal benefits. In the United States a wife can collect Social Security under her husband's benefit if the amount would be greater than collecting on her own earnings.

Yes, if you were married for at least 10 yrs. you can draw your deceased ex-husband's social security, but there are some stipulations. If your ex-husband died at or after his full retirement age & you are at full retirement age when he died , then you can collect 100%. Other than that, only a % of his social security can you get. You can call SS & ask them to send you the booklet that explains it.
You can draw half of your spouse's entitlement if you wait to retire when you reach full retirement age (65 for people born before 1943; 66 for those born between 1943 and 1954) if your spouse is also retired.
My deceased husband paid into GM retirement for 11 years and I need to know if I can received what he paid.
I don't believe this question is worded correctly. Do you mean that your husband is about to LOSE the condo due to hisbeing foreclosed on? If so: The mortgage company cannot seize money from his checking, Social Security, or Retirement accounts. However, they can being suit against him for the money he legally owes them by virtue of the real estate contract and mortgage.
The exwife can get his full social security and him too. Basicly double payment one to each person.
