Yes betta fish can eat fruit , but don't give them hard fruit or they will choke. I suggest giving them strawberries or mangos. Also make sure to cut them into peices the size of the betta's eyes. It might also change the color of their poop.
If you want to give him veggies in small amounts, you can, but always remember that bettas are primarily carnivores and the fiber from the veggies will simply pass right through them. I used to have a betta who adored broccoli florets, though.
Also remember, that betta fish have a TINY stomach about the size of their eyeball, so regulate your "treats" accordingly. A teensy piece of broccoli floret or a mini slice of pea, but he'll love a fresh juicy bloodworm as a treat a lot more.

Well, if you love your Betta fish, then it should live by itself. But if you add another Betta to your current Betta fish's tank, then they will start a fight because Betta Fish are Siamese fighting fish and if one Betta is in contact of another Betta, the possible reason would be a fight between them two.
A betta is a fish of the species Betta, especially Betta splendens, commonly known as the Siamese fighting fish.
