Pretty sure you need a passport or a driver's license and birth certificate.

if you don't have a passport they will let you cross with a birth certificate and drivers license, if you don't have either don't bother they won't let you cross,

the truth is you do not need one but you must have your papers ready to show. the government isssed identification are not your papers. the papers i speak of are your responsibility to maintain. i know a gentlemen who crosses the border with only this in the back of his bible. i can hear it now, a right wing christian nut job. Is that really adult thinking??? You may want to ask why he can do this an not need any government issued id?

Yes and maybe you should take a school ID or any ID because they need you to prove that you are the person on your certificate
