The real question is, Should you? Tubal ligations, although reversible in some cases, are considered permanent. At your age, you don't know what lies down the road. You may want more kids ten years from now -- or even 20. You may have different economic circumstances or, perhaps, a new spouse who wants his own children with you. There are other birth-control alternatives at your age. Any age limitations on having a tubal ligation would be established on a state-by-state basis. However, there are any number of other possibilities available to those who want to avoid having any more children. The most obvious one is for the male to have a vasectomy, which is about as effective as a tubal ligation. Although a vasectomy is not advertised as a reversible procedure, there has been a great deal more success in reversing vasectomies than tubal ligations. There are also certain increased health risks associated with tubal ligations that need to be considered.
