It's inside the gas tank.... Horrible as that sounds... be happy it's only a 15 gallon tank... Run it until it's almost empty and then drain the rest... You don't have to REMOVE the tank, but you do have to loosen it to remove the pickup unit (that houses the filter).. This assembly runs about $250….00 - from any parts store... much higher, I'm guessing, from the dealer.. Tom Pay It Forward. I don't think this is correct, but I have an early build 2000 that has some 99 parts and designs on it. The fuel filter on my 2000 sebring CONVERTIBLE is tucked up next to the tank towards the passenger side rear wheel. I also was able to pick up the fuel filter from Advance Auto Parts for $25.00. Purolator Fuel Filter. Part Number: F55302. In 2001 Chrysler did begin to put the fuel filters inside the gas tanks...I guess they wanted to make one more thing more difficult to access for us lay people. (MORE)
Answer . Very easy once you know how to do it. Take a flat screw driver and slide it under the front of the rear seat at about 1/4 of the way across the seat. There is a clip the that you can push in and lift that side of the seat up. Then go about 3/4 of the way across the seat and do the same. …There are only 2 clips that hold the seat in. \nHope this helps.\nB.A.B. (MORE)
Answer . \nI have a 96 sebring. Open the hood and to far right side of the firewall you will see three relays clipped to it. The far left relay is the one that is energized to run the fuel pump for 1-2 seconds in the on position before crankingso you have fuel pressure to start the car.(this all …I know for sure)\n. \nI was told that there is another relay that take over (after the motor is spinning) while the motor is running. I dont know which one that is. The start relay is the cheap one, I do know that!!!! ($13.00) I have replaced 3 on my car. Hope a little info is better than none...... Good Luck!!!!!!! (MORE)
It is driven by the timing belt and located behind the front engine plate. Both of them along with the upper traverse engine mount must to be removed to gain access to the pump. Also initially the dampener pulley must be removed using a special puller.
Good Luck! Just had this done by Chrysler mechanic, took him 7 hours labor and cost me over $700. Brilliant engineering by Chrysler.
Answer . The fuel pump is most likely in the gas tank. The only way to reach these, for replacement, is to remove the gas tank from the vehicle. If it is wiring check you want to do, you may still have to remove the gas tank to gain access to the plug...which plugs into the fuel pump on top of th…e gas tank. Drain the tank before you remove it or it will be really heavy and awkward to handle and may result in injury. I had a fuel pump replaced and they took out the back seat.. You can replace the fuel pump from inside the car by removing the back seat. There a panel that you have to remove on the floorboard that will allow you access to the pump. Be careful doing this because you can make a huge mess. You will never get all of the smell of gas out of your car. Good luck. (MORE)
1998 Chrysler sebring you have replaced the fuel pump and the fuel relay and it still will not start what else should you try and do to fix it?
check the timing chain.thought my 01 2.7 lxi was fuel starved ,dropped the fuel tank, cleaned filter/pump combo.turns out it jumped timing.replacement cost me over $1600.
For the 2.7l it depends on how good of a mechanic you are. The water pump is driven by the timing chain which is located inside the engine. You will need to raise the car, remove the right front wheel, then attack the project from that angle. Best to get a manual for the correct procedures. It is no…t a light task. (MORE)
If it on a 2.7 litre engine, it is not located in the normal or conventional manner as thermostats have been located in past vehicles. It is in the right front of the engine block, located in the thermostat housing under the alternator. Follow the lower radiator hose up to the engine. Where the hose… terminates is the thermostat housing. (MORE)
Answer Should be located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose On the 2.7 motor the thermostat is located at the engine side of the lower radiator hose. It's a difficult job to change, the alternator a/c compressor and bracket need to be removed, at least unbolted and moved aside, and they… have to be accessed from the passenger side inner fender as well as from under the hood. If you also remove the dipstick be sure to cover the hole so anti freeze can't get into the oilpan. I just unbolted the dipstick and moved it away without pulling it out to avoid that. Upon finishing I also had a problem with air pockets in the system when refilling with anti-freeze, the system must be bled well. (MORE)
Answer . In the gas tank. addition to above answer, by SEBRING JXI DRIVE IS LOVE, Sept 9, 2008: . If you have a Sebring Coupe, I don't know if this answer applies. But if you have a JXi Convertible, then the Fuel Pump Relay is in the Power Distribution Center, which is the large fuse box in th…e engine compartment. You can Google it to find a picture. It has a black plastic cover and is just to the right of the long row of terminal tabs. It is about 3 inches by 6 inches. It is located a little to the left of the Air Filter Housing. I assume the above answer was referring to the FUEL PUMP ITSELF, which is, indeed, inside the fuel tank, along with the Sending Unit and the Pressure Regulator. (MORE)
The best place to look for aftermarket car parts is the World Wide Web. I found quite a few retailers selling Chrysler Sebring water pump online. You should be able to find some really good deals since this is an extremely competitive market. In fact, I found a wide range of water pumps for Chrysler… Sebring on 1aauto.com. If you place an order before 3pm Eastern Time, they'll ship it to you the same day! (MORE)
I'm looking up this site to see how to get the starter out. It is located in front center of the engine above the front motor mount. You can see it from under the car looking up between the front catalytic converter and the engine block. Good luck getting to it.
Begin by removing the oil from your 2002 Chrysler Sebring oil pan.Remove the oil pan retaining bolts. Remove the oil pump retainingbolts. Reverse the process to install your new oil pump.
get under the car and have a friend turn the key on and off...dont start the car but listen to the fuel pump it should make noise if it is clicking on...also use a test light to test the relays....could also try juicing the pump, hook up battery pack or jumper cables to wires on pump and see if it c…ycles (MORE)

There are 3 seatbelts in the back seat of a Chrysler SebringConvertible. The middle seat belt is just a lap belt though.
Answer dated 8th March 2012. Chrysler Sebring 2002, 2.7V6 4 door LXi Sedan. I shopped around and surprisingly, the best price I got was from my local Chrysler dealer. The water pump runs off the timing chain and is in an insanely ridiculous place - inside the engine crank-case. The boffins at Chr…ysler must have been very, very stoned when they approved that particular piece of design genius. Labor charges make up most of the cost due to the pump's horrible location and the time it takes to get at it. Since you will have to spend the money getting to the pump, you would be mad not to change the timing chain while you're there. My car has done 127k on the original water pump, so should be good for at least another 100k now the job is done. My trusted private mechanic's boss quoted be an eye-popping £2,088. Chrysler quoted $1,310 including tax. Parts and labor warrantied for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. By comparison, my wife's Mercury Sable needed a water new pump and that cost $350.00, all in. Ouch. Good luck with your repair! (MORE)
If you are looking for an inertia switch, Chrysler does not usethem. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
It is inside the passenger side of the engine, driven by the timingbelt or chain.
Most likely in the fuel tank.. Yes, you have to remove the tank to access.. or just take out the beck seet its on top of the tank under the back seet try it your self before you spend 450 dollars at the shop
My seat heater stopped working. Is there a fuse for this? I can not find anything in my owners manual about the seat heater.
In the gas tank? I have an '07 and that's where it is in mine. Chrysler does not use inertia/reset switches.
Try as you might to find it, there isn't one. Chrysler put the pressure cap on top of the plastic overflow tank! You need to make sure that cap has a good rubber seal on it when you remove it. [ you DO allow the engine to cool down before removing that cap don't you? ] When removing the cap, you …should hear a short "hiss" sound which is pressure escaping from the cooling system (if the system is warm and not cold). \nUnder these conditions, if there is no "hiss" you most likely have a bad cap so replace it! Only $4.80 at Auto Zone. Just do it. Good luck! (MORE)
The fuel pump relay switch is the middle relay on the passenger side firewall. there are 3 unmarked relays. the middle one is it.
the water pump is located behind the front timing chain cover,it is driven by timing chain. recommend dealer for repair this isnot for a novice mechanic. . money As a Chrysler tech, that job books at 9 hours of labor for anexperienced mechanic. It also requires a couple of special tools. The entire… passenger side of the engine needs removed to access. (MORE)
Have a friend lay down under the back of the car (under the gas tank) and turn the ignition to run, but do not try to start the engine. They should hear the fuel pump run for a second or two, to prime the fuel system.
Under the back seat on right side there is a cover you remove. Then there are nuts that hold the fuel pump in the tank.
You hook the charger to the red and black jump start posts underthe hood on the driver side.
The water pump is inside the passenger side of the engine, drivenby the timing belt or chain.
The weep hole is next to the housing where the lower radiator hoseattaches to the engine.
It should start to make a whistling sound when the pump is hot orfuel is low in the tank. Replace the Fuel Filter while you have thetank out.
A Chrysler Sebring does not have a reset switch. The fuel system iscomputer controlled with relays.
Fuel Pump is located in gas tank as a part of the assembly includes sending unit, fuel filter and pump Tank has to be removed to access.
It depends on the vehicle; some have an access hatch under the back seat, or under the carpeting in the trunk that you can remove to gain access to the fuel sending unit, which the pump is mounted on. Usually, you have to drop the tank to get at the pump on a fuel-injected vehicle.
Chrysler does not use reset / inertia/ shutoff switches. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. The tank has to be removedto access.
The easiest way is to listen for it when you turn the key on. Start by being in a quiet place, radio off, door closed (so chimes aren't making noise) and trunk open. Turn the key to on (not start) and listen for a low growling sound that lasts about 3 to 5 seconds. If it growls your fuel pump is try…ing to work and has sent enough fuel to the injectors to get you started. If no growl you either have a bad pump or pump relay, broken wire or a bad fuse. If your fuel pump is getting weak you may be able to drive it OK but have trouble starting it when it is warmed up. You should also check that the fuel filter is clean and allowing fuel to pass to the engine. Also, as simple as it sounds, make sure the fuel cap is on at least three clicks. If it is loose the tank will not pressurize enough to allow your fuel pump to work properly. Good luck. (MORE)

If you follow the lower radiator hose to the engine, you will find a plastic housing behind the alternator. The water pump weep hole is next to the lower bolt for that housing. By the way that housing is where the thermostat is located.
