Yes, childbearing is possible if one has a Herpes infection. The pregnancy may be considered high-risk and the child has an increased infection of prenatal Herpes infection, which can cause life-threatening meningitis or encephalitis. Vaginal delivery increases this risk, especially if you have active lesions at the time of delivery - for this reason, there is a high rate of cesarean section births in women with Herpes infection.

Yes. Herpes has not been shown to have a negative effect on fertility. However, if the mother has a period of outbreaks when she is giving birth, this can complicate things.

Answer

YES. You can still have a baby even if you have herpes. Herpes doesn't affect fertility or the reproductive system All it does is cause sores or blisters on the genitals.

There is very little risk of passing herpes to the baby while pregnant. Most doctors prescribe safe antiviral medication to take a few weeks before the due date to help prevent break outs. If there is no sign of a break out then the mother can deliver naturally with very low risk of passing herpes onto the baby. But if the mother has any signs or symptoms of break out during delivery then the baby has a higher chance of contracting it. If the mother does have a break out when she goes into labor then she should have a c-section to completely eliminate the risk of passing herpes on.

definetely of course there is always going to be a chance of spreading the virus to your wife/husband or girlfriend/boyfriend regardless if you wear a condom or not, or are having an outbreak or not. Condoms are not 100% effective in preventing the spread of herpes and the virus can be spread even if you are not on an outbreak. And, since a couple obviously needs to have unprotected sex in order to have a baby then the chances of you spreading the virus to your wife increase.

Yes, but if the disease is active at the time of labor, many doctors will choose to perform a Caesarean section to keep the baby from contracting the disease in the birth canal.

Is shingles and herpes are same?

Herpes is a family if viruses that cause different diseases. Herpes simplex I is associated with cold sores, herpes simplex II is associated with genital herpes (although those two can be reversed), CMV and EBV can cause mononucleosis and colds and congenital infections in babies as well as cancers, roseolovirus can cause roseola, human herpes virus 8 causes Kaposi's sarcoma and other cancers. The herpes varicella-zoster virus causes chicken pox (varicella). It lies dormant in nerve cells and years later it can reactivate to cause shingles (zoster). So shingles is one example of a herpes virus infection.
