WELL THAT OF COURSE DEPENDS ON HOW GOOD OF A SHOT YOU ARE AND THE DISTANCE ... IF YOU CAN PUNCH A QUARTER AT 75 YDS OR LESS , AND YOU KNOW WHERE TO HIT THE CRITTER SPINAL COLUMN SHOT , HEART . and YOU DONT SUFFER FROM " BUCK FEVER " PLUS HES 75 YDS OR LESS DISTANCE , NO BRUSH BTWEEN HIM AND YOU ETC ETC , THEN YES .
USE A 65 GRAIN OR BETTER , NOSLER PARTITION , ETC. ONLY IF YOU HAVE A BETTER THAN OR A 1 IN 9 TWIST IN THE BARREL .
LIKE I SAID THO BULLET PLACEMENT IS EVERYTHING . BUY A 30-06 AND YOU HAVE NO WORRIES OR EVEN A OLD M44 , IF THE BULLET DOESNT STOP HIM YOU CAN " GIT IM " WITH THE BAYONET .
YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD FOR THE 223 , ARE YOU ? ... BUT is IT GOOD ? THEN MY ANSWER IS NO . TO MANY VARIABLES. WIND DRIFT ETC , IF YOU HIT A LEAF OR BRANCH THEN THE BULLET WILL BE WAY OFF . GET A 30-06 . MY PERSONAL CHOICE IS A REMINGTON 03A3 WW2 RIFLE . NOW OF COURSE THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION .
JUST WAY TO MANY VARIBLES FOR A 223 FOR THE AVERAGE JOE .
IF YOUR SHOT IS OVER 100 YDS THE SAVAGE WITH THE ACCUTRIGGER ,SCOPED OF COURSE CANT BE BEAT FOR THE PRICE .
LIKE I SAID ITS ONLY MY OPINION AND IM NO EXPERT , ( BESIDES CAN YOU TRUST SOMEONE WHO JUST TYPED 5 PARAGRAPHS before he realized his caps lock button was on ?
Many blessings, Neal E. Cobb [ nov 10th 2007]
There isn't much in this answer that is true so disregard most of it the wind and yardage is obsurd the .223 caliber was designed depending on the gun to accurately travel 300-600yds so those things arent issues the only issues are that most people don't like to shoot a deer with such a light grain bullet if you have a single shot the barrell twist will not be correct to shoot over a 60grain bullet if you have a semi-auto then you can shoot upto 70grains and should be fine personally i would shoot one with the 55grain for a few reasons but this is one of the most accurate rounds and if its not a brushy area you would be fine
The .223 round is small and travels very fast, compared to other rounds, which means it does not expand or mushroom as much as other calibers. Because it does not expand a whole lot this means that the amount of damage happening inside the deer is minimal. if your looking for a smaller caliber for deer hunting, the smallest i would go is a .243 if your looking for something a little bigger go with a 30/30 or a .270. These three caliber will do just fine against deer.
I would check with the local DNR for the smallest cal. permited for deer hunting. In WV it is a 24 cal. which puts you at a minimum 243. Shot placement is key to a clean kill and even a 22 cal will kill a deer. But it is neither humane nor legal.. As loss of hunting liscense- weapon- possibly your vehicle- not to mention the fine-- could result from being caught afield with the wrong cal. I would call your local DNR or Wildlife Management Office.
Not really, and in fact, some U.S. states have caliber restrictions on hunting deer. In the states that do, .243 is usually the smallest allowed.
Yes! it's on the lighter side of guns capable. Take a good chest shot and it will put it down.
yes you can definitely hunt with a 243. depends on what you want to hunt really but for any deer animals like that a 243 is plenty
243 has more knockdown power that is what my 11yr old uses
.243
843-289-4567-243
No. .243/6.5mm is the minimum allowed for deer in NC.
The opposite of 243 is -243.
How about: 243 = 243.0
486 - 243 = 243
243 duh who made this question
243
the smallest cal you should use would be a .243 but not something outragous like a .338 or some thing i hunt hogs with a 7mm-08.

numbers are divisible by 243 are the multiples of 243 like 243, 486, 729, 972,...
243/1000 = 243 ÷ 1000 = 0.243
