As everyone says, it is much better to raise the vehicle and remove the left front tire along with the mud shields. The battery may have a heat shield around it. Don't tear it up. It can be reused. My battery lasted six years and just died right in the middle of the Chrysler dealers drive in shop. I had them jump it and was able to drive it home with the bad battery. If that happens to you, just keep the engine rpm up above 1500 rpm and don't turn anything on or the engine will die and you will be left sitting on the side of the road. New six year battery at Walmart was 68.00. Would have been 168.00 at the dealer.
