Yes.There are several things that can contribute to a negative pregnancy test even if you are pregnant. Some medications can give you a false negative, the timing of the test can affect the results. If you did not follow directions properly; if you let the test sit for too long the results may read negative after a while. It is important to read the results within the amount of time given on the instructions of that particular pregnancy test you bought. If you did not perform the test properly (example: you drank a lot of fluids before taking the test, which can dilute your urine). Etc To ensure the best results: * Take the test in the morning, if possible, because your hCG (pregnancy hormone) levels are at it's highest * Don't drink a bunch of fluids before taking the test because it will dilute your urine and can affect the results * Take the test no more than 1 day before expected period. Although some test say that you can see results up to 5 days before your missed period, the percentage of accuracy is very low. * urinate for as long as possible on the foam-like strip * Check the results in the window frame of time suggested by the instructions of the pregnancy test. . On rare occasions you can encounter a false positive due to improper testing, expired pregnancy tests, rare medical conditions such as certain types of cancer, evaporation lines, a recent pregnancy or a chemical pregnancy. Your symptoms of pregnancy will usually appear anywhere from the first week of your expected period to 1-2 weeks after your first week of expected period. Your first signs of pregnancy most commonly include missed period, tender/swollen breasts, change in color of the breasts, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, increased sense of smell, and weight gain. NO however, if you take a home test too soon, it will not be accurate.

hey, I am very confused also! My period is 5 days late now, and i have been experiencing a few symptoms like, nausea, headaches, insane tiredness, and my breasts are undeniably larger, and my nipples are really sore and they look a little darker. I just took a pregnancy test this morning, and it came out negative.. but I am already aware that they are often inaccurate. I have never been pregnant before, so it's not like I know for sure it is wrong, but I just have the weirdest feelings, and my period is always on time. any help would be awesome! thank you :)

You could still be pregnant. Take a good quality pregnancy test in 1 week and do it first thing in the morning when the hormones are strongest. Be sure it is taken 3-4 days after your missed period, at least. Otherwise you will get another negative whether or not you're pregnant because the hormones won't show up that early.

You most definitely can be pregnant (trust me on this one). Go to the doctor, get a blood test, and if in the end you still feel like you're pregnant, get an ultrasound!

Not likely. The test is for hCG, which is produced by an embryo. No embryo, no hCG. I'm assuming your blood pregnancy tests were drawn at the appropriate times (where hCG is detectable) from assumed conception? If you've had 2 tests, and they were several days apart, it's pretty certain that you are not pregnant. hCG levels climb rather quickly once they get going. I guess the long shot is that the lab screwed up two separate tests. Go get an OTC pregnancy test and do it at home.

Yes. They are testing levels of HCG in your blood. It is possible your levels are too low to register. If you are still certain you are pregnant, wait a week and be re-tested.

Sure you can if it is done too early as levels vary between women.

If the blood test is done too early in the pregnancy, the pregnancy won't be detected. If the blood test was done by a doctor, then he/she knows to do it and obtain an accurate result.

It's unlikely. An hCG level of less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25mIU/ml is considered positive for pregnancy.

Yes. Home pregnancy tests are not always accurate. Take multiple tests, or see a doctor. If you are far enough along in the pregnancy to be feeling movement from the fetus, then your belly should have started protruding.
