You may want to consider menstrual cups or softcups instead of tampons for water activities because these are internal like tampons but safer so unlike tampons they can be worn even when your flow is light (tampons shouldn't be worn with light flow). Cups can be worn for up to 12 hours so you won't have to come in to change after a few hours, and menstrual cups don't leak. Also whereas tampons can increase cramps, menstrual cups can decrease cups so better when active.
