The kidney functions only because of presence of nephrons. In a nephron, afferent vessels take blood into the kidneys, whereas the efferent vessels take blood away from the nephrons.

Where these two vessels meet is known as a vasa recta.

Renal Artery > Segmental arteries > interlobar arteries > Arcuate arteries > interlobular arteries > afferent anterioles > glomerular arteries > efferent arterioles > peritubular capillaries > vasa recta (juxtamedullary nephrons only) > interlobular veins > arcuate veins > interlobar veins > segmental veins > renal vein

What is the pathway of a glucose molecule from the renal artery to the renal vein?

Pathway of glucose and other molecules from renal artery to renal vein is the following . 1 renal artery , 2 arcuate artery ,3 interlobular artery , 4 afferenr renal arteriole , 5 glomerulus , 6 efferent renal arteriole , 7 peritubular network of capillaries including vasa recta , 8 interlobular vein , 9 arcuate vein and 10 renal vein .

What kind of blood is carried by the renal artery and renal vein?

The renal artery carries blood to the kidney, and the renal vein carries blood that has been purified by the kidney.

What blood vessel carries blood from the kidney?

The renal artery - "renal" being the Latin word for kidney.

Which blood vessel does blood leave the kidney from?

the renal artery. :) Micaela U. Sanchez

Name 2 blood vessels which enters and leave the kidney?

Afferent - go into the glomerulus and efferent - go out of glomerulus

In what way does the composition of the blood in the renal artery differ from the renal vein?

The renal artery takes blood to the kidney. The renal vein takes blood away from the kidney. In the kidney, the waste product urea is filtered out of the blood. So the main difference is in the amount of urea in the blood: high in the renal artery and low in the renal vein.

Which blood vessel renal artery or renal vein contain less nitrogenous waste?

Renal vein.

What vessels carry blood to the kidneys?

The renal artery carries blood into the kidneys while the renal vein drains the blood.

What are function of the renal artery?

The renal artery supplies blood to the renal system, or the kidneys. The renal artery differ with the renal vein in containing the less concentration of co2 and more concentration of urea

What blood vessel carries blood from the heart to the kidneys?

The renal artery delivers blood to the kidneys.

Which has less nitrogenous waste the renal vein or the renal artery?

The blood in the Renal Vein:* Is low in oxygen. * Returns to the heart. The blood in the Renal Artery:* Has high amounts of oxygen. * Is pumped from the heart.

How does the blood in the renal artery differ from the blood of renal vein?

renal artery contains a higher percentage of oxygen as compared tro the renal vein. it also contains a higher percentage of urea as compared to the renal vein as all the urea has been filtered away for excretion in the kidney.
