Yes. You buy a remote control that's the right type (2 channel, 4 channel, etc), most toy rc's are 2-channel. You then switch the receiver in the car and your new remote will work with the car. Most remotes come with a receiver, plus steering servo's but i doubt you'll need them.
You would need to attach an engine to the rear axle and a server to the front one, plus all the other electrics. The model car would also need to have wheel movement available.
OR you could get a model RC car, works much easier.
Of course! I cannot get into much detail though, because I don't know what type of RC car you have. You can likely upgrade the motors used or the batteries used.
The term RC refers to remote control or radio control, so an RC car engine is for these model controlled cars rather than a car that would be driven by people. You can find more information on an rc car engine here: http://www.amainhobbies.com/
To find a model car door for your RC race car, you can search for parts using key words that pertain to the version of race car you have. You can either find parts in an area near you or from online sources.
The make of the car is the name of the company that makes it. The model is the specific name of the car. For example: Make = Bentley Model = Arnage Make = Chevrolet Model = Aveo
