You can use Diesel fuel inplace of your #2 heating oil it is the same, The only difference is there is a colord die in disel fuel showing that a road tax for the DOT has been paid.
Sulfer & water content....and if it's off road diesel fuel - the color. It won't cause problems to use diesel in a heating oil tank, but it will cause a whole lot of trouble if you use heating oil in a diesel tank
u can use diesel fuel but why would you? heating oil has no tax and is so much cheaper than road fuel
When we are making a thermodynamic analysis of a system where diesel fuel is combusted we use the heating value of the fuel. You must determine whether you should use the higher heating value (HHV), or lower heating value (LHV), based on the application. Hope this helps.
Yes, a diesel engine wastes 2/3 to 3/4 of the energy in the fuel as heat in the exhaust and in the cooling system. That heat can be recovered and used for space heating. A system that does that is call 'combined heat and power' or CHP. CHP systems are in common use in factories etc.
There are different grades of diesel fuel and heating oil but in general they have similar qualities including the flash point. The flash point is the temperature at which the fuel ignites on its own, without a spark. Diesel fuel used to only be available along truck routes. Before diesel fuel became easily available everywhere, people with diesel engine cars would use heating fuel, but would have to make sure it is clean, passing it through a filter to remove foreign particles.
yes definitely
diesel fuel contains detergent, cetane improvers, lubrocity improvers, etc. home heating oil doesn't. most application are interchangable. truck stops commenly sell home heating oil because its cheaper. they also sell premium diesel which is supposed to be real diesel. that's why drivers buy howes, or power service and dope their fuel. dyed fuel is for off road use and does not have road tax collected on it #1 and #2 are viscosity ratings.
the difference between heating oil and diesel is a red dye, you can use diesel just fine
For heating houses they use electricity, natural gas, oil (kerosene), and LPG. For cars they use petrol, diesel and there are some hybrid vehicles, but not many.
Diesel fuel, biodiesel, BTL and GTL
If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. Unleaded gasoline will destroy a diesel engine. Diesel fuel is also used as a lubricant in a diesel engine. The use of any other fuel except diesel will result in serious damage. If you have put unleaded in your diesel, do not start or drive this vehicle until you drain the tank and change all the fuel filters. If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. It is not a great idea, you will be likely to ruin your fuel system. Jet fuel is low lubricity compared to diesel fuel. Perhaps someone can identify a commerially available lubricity additive. The US military has a lubricity additive to make jet fuel acceptable for ground vehicle use.
