You can, but you would have to de-bone the short ribs, I recommend using boneless cut of beef.

How long does it take to cook flanken?

Flanken is a cut of meat that is taken from the short ribs of beef. The time it takes to cook flanken depends on how it is cooked. It can be cooked in the oven covered for about an hour and a half or until it is tender.

What are English spareribs?

Short ribs come in two cuts: English and flanken. English cut, the most common, has a bone section usually 3" to 5" long, 2-6 bones wide, and is 1-2" thick. They are occasionally available without the bone. Flanken cut is less common, but popular in Asian butcher shops. Flanken ribs are typically about 6" long, 1" wide, and 1-1.5" thick.

How long do you broil beef short ribs in a toaster oven?

Short ribs are fatty, and can be tough at times. If you have no real oven, you might be better off braising them in a pot on the stove top, and letting them slow cook that way. Broiling is a high, close-range exposure to heat that does not break down meat's connective tissue. If you want to roast the ribs instead, you can use a heat-proof, oven proof baking dish, put the ribs in there (they need no oil added to the pan: they are greasy enough) season them, and then cover the dish tightly with foil, so the grease does not spatter and create a fire risk (or just a greasy oven to clean). Try 350 degrees for an hour, but google "short rib recipes" to find a ton of ways to cook your ribs, including alternate temperatures and times that might suit you best. If what you've really got is not "short ribs" but "flanken style ribs", they can be broiled, but again, a greasy mess that way -- I do them in a skillet on the stove top, on medium high heat, with bbq sauce.

Are braised beef short ribs cooked the same way as barbecue spare ribs?

No, braising ribs is not the same as barbecuing short ribs. Also, short ribs almost always refers to pork ribs, and you have mentioned you want to know more about beef ribs. Take a look at Epicurious.com for more information.

What is the difference between pork spare ribs and back ribs?

spare ribs are on top of the rib cage chest baby back r on the back and short ribs are cut against the grain. Duly noted. Additionally helpful information would be that back ribs, be them beef or pork baby back ribs, are called so because the literally come from the back of either the cow or pig. These can often have a plumper meat to bone ratio. As is my understanding, beef finger and pork spare ribs are physically more frontal. St. Louis are just trimmed pork spare ribs Beef short ribs are cut against the direction of the ribs so one length of them features evenly spaced cross sections of ribs that run it's width
