There are a number of DVD players available in Europe that do not check region codes although many of them are modified from the manufacturer's original specification and are likely to have no warranty in the case of failure.

Practically all modern UK-marketed televisions, DVD players, and VCRs, are multiple standard, enabling you to play NTSC DVDs and videocassettes. Most DVD players will also either play Region 1 DVDs, or can be adapted to do so (e.g. by entering an appropriate code using the hand controller).
