Had same problem . Replaced coil , plugs , wires , rotor cap and points . nothing fixed it . then read an article about 2 screws on the computer case that ground out and stalls the car . mine would die randomly or get really low rpm's and even when i hit the gas it did nothing until it stalled . To fix it undo the neg. battery cable , unplug the 3 connectors from the computer ( located on passenger firewall ) . Take out the screws located below plug 1 and 3 . They are a #25 star bit . Then go to Home Depot and get a small bag of #6 3/8" pan head machine srews . Works like a charm . Also you have to remove the coolant overflow tank that sits in front of the computer . Alot of people are having this proplem .
Give us more info like the year, make, model and engine info. Do you have a check engine light illuminated? If so what are the codes? Have you tested for fuel pressure and fuel flow? Have you replaced the fuel filter?
Use a code reader to find out why the check engine light is on.
i have a 1994 eclipse with a 1.8 we replaced the head gasket and timeing belt now it sputters at low rpms an the check engine light is on what could be th problem ?
Then you need to have code checked, you can diagnose from there.
there is a number of things that could cause this, if your check light is on it's prob a sensor. most of the time it's a mass air flow or O2 sensor.
If this occurs, then it means that there is a problem with you engine. A mechanic can figure out how your engine should be fixed.
When my 2002 SC2 sputters, stalls, "Service Engine" light comes on, I dump a can of injector cleaner in the tank and it runs fine and the light goes out. Can't say for sure that's your problem, but it is a small enough investment to try it out. Good Luck.
it might be your throttle
The light comes on when the car stalls because the engine is not running and the pump therefore is not pumping. The pressure will always be 0 when the engine stalls and the light is directly related to pressure. This is normal, you have no problem, other than the engine stalling.
Check Engine light is on. Engine OK when cold, but when reaches operating temperature it stalls at idle.
is the computer setting a code or check engine light, if not it could be your crank sensor.
I had same problem, but this can be caused by a few different things. its either the PTU, the coil pack or the ECU, more often than not its the ECU!
