If the finish on the pressure plate looks rough, burned as in discolored, scratched or gouged in any way do yourself a favor and just replace it. Most shops worth anything won't turn them anymore anyway. The price of the new one is only around sixty dollars or less depending on where you get it. Be sure to check your tranny oil and replace the drive shaft seals as well they don't cost that much and when you're done your done. Good luck.

The clutch of a go kart is much the same as the clutch on a car. The clutch disengages the engine from the gearbox enabling the gear to be changed. Without a clutch gear changing would be difficult and may damage the gearbox.
The clutch bearing for an AC compressor is located in the center of the clutch. If the bearing goes bad, then the clutch is replaced as a whole part rather than changing the bearing.
Clutch is not adjustable. I would recommend changing the brake fluid in the clutch system and bleed the air out of it. If it continues to cause problems, rebuild the clutch master cylinder. Bob
