I assume you are talking about Soviet communism. A German Socialist named Karl Marx wrote a series of books on the subject. The first Communist government was started in Russia. Vladimir Lenin led the Communist Bolsheviks in revolt against the Russian monarchy around the time of WW1. This as you might know led to the formation of the Soviet Union or USSR.

In the contest between communism (actually totalitarianism) and free enterprise, free enterprise won.
