there wouldn't be any coolant in the oil if your intake manifold gasket is shot. so its the gasket.
A cracked block or cylinder head would render the motor unstartable, so that's a lie from the mechanic. Find a different one you can trust.
The front exhaust manifold is right in front by the spark plugs. The rear manifold is behind the engine by the spark plugs.
Should be located at the rear of the radiator approx. 1/3 from the top unscrew to replace
The pitcock drain value is located on the lower left side of the radiator, you might need a pair of pliers to turn the drain. The coolant will drain out of the hole in the radiator's lower left ruubber mount. The EGR valve is hidden under the air filter box. It lies on top of the intake manifold, just in front of the throttle body. It will have a vacuum line leading to the T.B. as well. Test it by sucking on it's hose and feeling under the round dome. The valve should move, and not return until you let air back in.

It is on the intake manifold near the thermostat housing.
The coolant level sensor in the coolant reservoir detects the coolant level is low. The coolant system must have a leak in it somewhere. Have a trusted mechanic diagnose it soon before you do damage to the engine.
On the intake manifold near the thermostat housing. It will be two wires a yellow and one black wire.
Check the coolant level. Not just the bottle but in the radiator too. The 3400 motor is known for leaking coolant at the intake manifold.
Either the coolant sensor has failed or there is a bad connector somewhere or the dashboard sensor circuit has failed.
Typically the O2 sensor is located at the back of the engine, follow the exhaust manifold and it should be attached somewhere near it
I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand AM GT that coolant sensor went bad. So how do you change it with out breaking the coolant
Intake manifold on top and exhaust manifold on the side.
Adding coolant to a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am is very easy to do. The coolant can be directly added to the radiator. Make sure the engine is not hot before adding the coolant.
It is cast right on the manifold if it is a factory manifold. 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2
look on the goosenneck under where the air cleaner is. It's attached to the lower part actually on the manifold.
Where was the leak coming from? the coolant has some pathways that go to the intake. that's to warm up the air.the most important question is where the coolant was leaking from?
