you can take a home pregnancy test as soon as you think you are late from your period. if you think that you are pregnant but the test proved not and you still have the symptoms then you should maybe take another test as there is no harm in this. if still this proves negative and symptoms still persist then you should contact your doctor.

Yes, you can be pregnant even if the pregnancy test was negative. Pregnancy tests will NEVER give you a false positive reading because they are designed to detect the HCG hormones that are only present when you are pregnant or have recently been pregnant. However, pregnancy tests can give you a false NEGATIVE because the test is either faulty, there isn't enough of the HCG hormone in your urine to detect pregnancy, or the user made a mistake in using the product. If you don't think you are pregnant and you still haven't had a period, there are many reasons why. Stress, change in jobs, sickness, STD's etc. To be absolutely positive on what is actually wrong or right you should see your physician as soon as possible. If you don't have insurance or simply can't afford to see the doctor there are usually free clinics available in all areas. Check with the local public aid office for the one nearest you.

This will better help you in figuring out if you need to worry about expecting or not. Most HPTs and doctors says that a test is bound to be a false negative rather than a false positive. If your period is abnormally late, there isn't any major changes to your diet or lifestyle (stress can trigger late menstruation), and you think you have pregnancy symptoms, then either take another HPT (a reliable one like First Response or EPT) in the mornings when you first wake up is best (urine is not diluted), or schedule an appt. with your gyno and tell them your concerns. It could be something like a thyroid problem, stress, or you just might be pregnant.
