Abraham lived several centuries before Moses.
There are three covenants. Two which God made with Abraham (17th century BCE), and one with Abraham's Israelite descendants in the time of Moses after the Exodus (1312 BCE).
The full text of the third covenant is actually the Torah itself, because it lists all our commands and beliefs. That is why the Torah is called The Book of the Covenant.

The ten commandments were given to the twelve tribes of Israel by Moses. The twelve tribes were formed from the twelve sons of Jacob about 400 years before the commandments were given to them.
The first time it was recorded was with Moses, but there is evidence that the ten commandments were given before that. For instance, the bible tells us that the people kept the sabbath before the ten commandments were given.
No. Tradition holds that Jewish history began with Abraham, about 500 years before the giving of the 10 commandments.
The covenant is that if a man wishes to please God and to receive his salvation he will covenant with God to keep all of the commandments. One must also remember that the actual written covenants are but a guide, for their meaning goes much deeper than we imagine. Thou shalt not kill also means thou shall not think of killing. All of the commandments have added to them that to even think of breaking them is as bad as the actual act of breaking them
Jesus Christ fulfills the covenant that God made with humanity. Acts 3:25 says "Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed." The seed of Abraham is Jesus. Galatians 3:17 says that the covenant was confirmed before God in Christ. Hebrews Chapter 8 says a lot about God's covenant. Hebrews 12:24 says that Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant. Hebrews 13:20 mentions the covenant.
613 commandments.
His first covenant with God was, according to tradition, when he was 70 years old, in 1742 BCE. (The covenant in Genesis ch.15 occurred before the prophecy of ch.12, when he was 75 years old).
Forty days and nights (Deuteronomy ch.9-10).
One occasion was at the Covenant Between the Parts (Genesis ch.15) which according to tradition took place before any of the other occasions.
The answer is: He would give Abraham many decendants.God made a covenant with Abraham that if he and his descendants would keep His commandments, be perfect and circumcise their male children, God would bless them and be their God. God promised to make Abraham a father of many nations and to give him the land of Canaan. God later added that He would bless all nations through Abraham.Genesis 171 And when Abram was ninety nine years old, the LORD appeared to him, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be perfect.2 And I will make my covenant between us, and will multiply you exceedingly.3 And Abram fell on his face: and God spoke with him, saying,4 As for me, behold, My covenant is with you, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.5 Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made you.6 And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and nations will come from you, and kings shall come from you.7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you for all their generations as an everlasting covenant, to be your God, and for your seed after you.8 And I will give unto you, and to thy seed after you, the land wherein you now dwell, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.9 And God said unto Abraham, you shalt keep my covenant; you, and your seed after you for all their generations.10 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised.15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.16 And I will bless her, and give you a son from her. I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be born of her.18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.
It had a profound effect upon Abraham. He was surrounded by mystery religions and various Pagan cults, many or all of these involved worshipping multiple deities and idols, and often human sacrifice. But when G-d spoke to Abraham, he offered him a covenant, which was really a type of contract. G-d stated that he would watch over Abraham and bless him and all of his descendants *if* Abraham did as instructed by G-d now. Abraham agreed, and G-d then told him to journey far from his home, and to find the 'promised land'. So Abraham set forth and trusted G-d. Later, this covenant was strengthened when G-d spoke to Moses, at Mt Sinai, before millions of Jews. This was the 'official' start of Judaism. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) God spoke the Ten Commandments out loud to the entire assembled nation of Israelites (Exodus ch.19-20). 2) God gave Moses the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 31:18).3) God taught Moses the entire Torah during forty days (Exodus ch.24), and Moses wrote it later (Deuteronomy 31:24).
