Anne Frank had a complex relationship with her mother, Edith Frank. While Anne felt distant from her mother at times and criticized her behavior in her diary, she also expressed love for her and described feeling guilty for upsetting her. In the confined space of the Secret Annex, tensions arose, but it is evident that Anne did care for her mother.

Anne believed that her mother didn't understand her and didn't love her as much as her father. However, prisoners at Auschwitz reported that Anne and her mother, along with Anne's sister, were always together and seemingly close.

She didn't like her mom, and she always preferred her dad than her mom.
Whenever her mom tried to get close to Anne, Anne would just walk away or ignore her. Anne thought her mom never understood her.
