No, this is an internet myth. Barack Obama was a transfer student from Occidental College, but since he was a US-born citizen, he was never registered as a foreign exchange student anywhere. That said, some people are understandably confused because his father (who had the same name as the president) was in fact a foreign exchange student who came from Africa to study in America. But the president was born in the USA in 1961, and was always an American citizen.

∙ 15y agoApparently not. Obama needed to disclose any loans he had for the Illinois Senate and the US Senate. He showed no college loans in those disclosiers. Also he did not take a tax deduction in 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004 which he could have. Also he stated that he paid back his college loans in 2005 from his book, but he filled out his US Senate disclosier in 2004 and it was not shown.
It is estimated that 3 years of Columbia and 2 years of Harvard would of cost $200,000 to $250,000 dollars. He had no job (Harvard review was non paying). Makes me wonder how he paid for college.

∙ 11y agoNo. This is simply another "Birther" rumor. He was born in the United States (Hawaii) and was eligible for financial aid when he went to college, because his family was not wealthy. As it turns out, his maternal grandparents helped to pay for some of his education, plus he also took out student loans. He has told interviewers that it took him years to finally pay off the student loans.

It was his father, Barack Obama, Sr., who was from Kenya and studied in the US as a foreign exchange student.

There are a group of people called the "Birthers," and they refuse to believe the president is an American; they continue to spread these myths on the internet, but once again, this one is demonstrably false. President Obama was born in Hawaii, and attended college the way any American student does: by working, having help from parents, and/or getting loans and grants. His maternal grandparents helped to pay for some of his education; he also took out student loans, and as he told an interviewer in May 2012, he only finished paying off the loans about six years ago.

The truth is the president paid for college with a combination of loans, grants, and the money his grandparents provided for his education, as well as some money he saved up working. His financial aid was student loans (which he has said he finally paid off about six years ago), and since he was born in Hawaii, he was eligible for financial aid the same as any American student is.
