No, this is an internet myth. Barack Obama was a transfer student from Occidental College, but since he was a US-born citizen, he was never registered as a foreign exchange student anywhere. That said, some people are understandably confused because his father (who had the same name as the president) was in fact a foreign exchange student who came from Africa to study in America. But the president was born in the USA in 1961, and was always an American citizen.

Apparently not. Obama needed to disclose any loans he had for the Illinois Senate and the US Senate. He showed no college loans in those disclosiers. Also he did not take a tax deduction in 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004 which he could have. Also he stated that he paid back his college loans in 2005 from his book, but he filled out his US Senate disclosier in 2004 and it was not shown.

It is estimated that 3 years of Columbia and 2 years of Harvard would of cost $200,000 to $250,000 dollars. He had no job (Harvard review was non paying). Makes me wonder how he paid for college.

No. This is simply another "Birther" rumor. He was born in the United States (Hawaii) and was eligible for financial aid when he went to college, because his family was not wealthy. As it turns out, his maternal grandparents helped to pay for some of his education, plus he also took out student loans. He has told interviewers that it took him years to finally pay off the student loans.

Not at all. This is an internet myth. President Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, so he attended Columbia as a natural born US citizen; he received financial aid in the form of grants and student loans, and was never considered a foreign student because he was American by birth. It was his father, Barack Obama, Sr., who was from Kenya and studied in the US as a foreign exchange student.

No, this is an internet myth, spread by people called "Birthers" who insist the president was not born in the USA. He was born in Hawaii in 1961, and because he was born in America, he did not need a "foreign student" scholarship.

No, this is a myth. There are a group of people called the "Birthers," and they refuse to believe the president is an American; they continue to spread these myths on the internet, but once again, this one is demonstrably false. President Obama was born in Hawaii, and attended college the way any American student does: by working, having help from parents, and/or getting loans and grants. His maternal grandparents helped to pay for some of his education; he also took out student loans, and as he told an interviewer in May 2012, he only finished paying off the loans about six years ago.

No, this is another of those internet myths. This one comes from a group called the Birthers. The truth is the president paid for college with a combination of loans, grants, and the money his grandparents provided for his education, as well as some money he saved up working. His financial aid was student loans (which he has said he finally paid off about six years ago), and since he was born in Hawaii, he was eligible for financial aid the same as any American student is.

No one knows because he will not release his college records to the public. He has spent millions preventing the public from seeing his records

Is Obama the first President to apply for college aid as a foreign student then deny he was a foreigner?

No, the claim that Barack Obama applied for college aid as a foreign student and then denied being a foreigner is false. Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is a natural-born U.S. citizen. There is no evidence to support this conspiracy theory.

What was Barack Obama's nickname at Columbia University?

I haven't seen any credible sources that mention he had a college nickname. In high school, he preferred "Barry" to Barack. But by college, he was using his birth name (Barack Obama) again. By the way, you may have seen some online claims that he was registered as a "foreign student" or that he was called "Barry Soetoro" at Columbia. Both assertions are false.

Did barry soetoro receive any scholarships?

If you are referring to the name some anti-Obama folks (often called "Birthers") use when they are talking about the president, it should first be noted that there is no such person. Barack Obama never used the name "Barry Soetoro" nor did his stepfather ever legally adopt him and change his name. Barack Obama did receive scholarships, as well as student loans. It has been well-documented that Mr. Obama did not register as a "foreign student" and he did not get any financial aid from a foreign country.

Was Barack Obama a foreign exchange student at Columbia university?

If you are asking about President Obama, no he was not. He was born in the USA and never studied at any foreign universities. But if you are asking about his father (who had the same name as the president), he did come to America to study as an exchange student, and eventually, he returned to Africa.

Was Barack Obama registered at Occidental College as a foreign exchange student?

No, there is no credible evidence of it. President Obama was born in Hawaii, spent much of his youth there, graduated from high school there, and attended American colleges (including Harvard Law School) as an American student. Sadly, there are a number of myths about the president on the internet, including some from the "Birthers," who refuse to believe that he is an American. But all of the reliable sources indicate he was never a foreign student. That said, there is sometimes some understandable confusion because of Barack Obama's father, who had the same name that the president has. It is Barack Obama Senior who was a foreign student: he came from Kenya to study at the University of Hawaii, where he met Ann Dunham (the president's mom).

Did Barack Obama receive a scholarship as an undergrad?

He has said he mainly received student loans as an undergrad, but he seems to have received both grants and student loans at Harvard Law School.

Did Barack Obama attend college as an american?

Yes, absolutely. Since he was born in Hawaii, and since Hawaii is part of the United States, Mr. Obama attended school as an American. There are some internet myths that he attended as a "foreign student," but there is no truth to these assertions.

Is Barack Obama African?

No, he is a natural born US citizen and has never held other citizenship. His father, Barack Obama, Sr., was Kenyan and met his mother when they were both in college and he was a foreign exchange student. They had a brief marriage before Barack Obama, Sr. left and moved back to Africa.Barack Obama, II, the current US President would be considered an African-American, with an American mother of European heritage and an African father.
