Why did Gandhi say he likes Christ but he does not like Christians because they are unlike their Christ?
Answer 6 June 2009 Gandhi actually said "I admire Christ, but not Christians"; Gandhi liked/loved all people. It is impossible to say, for certain, why Gandhi made this comme…nt. He lived both in South Africa when it was under British rule, and later in India during the time of the Raj. It is not a matter of debate that, whilst Britain did bring benefits to India, it did so in a manner which was paternalistic and, at times, quite brutal. The fact that the ones doing this to the people of India proclaimed themselves to be followers of Christ, would quite possibly have made an impression on Gandhi, who, it appears, had read the Gospel accounts and saw that Christ's followers were quite unlike Christ Himself. Whereas Christ turned the other cheek, the British rulers could be harsh. Whereas Christ was a person who loved the weak, the oppressed, and the outcast the British rulers were seen to be rich, powerful and elitist. AnswerBecause he was right. There are very, very few Christ-like people in this world and Ghandi quite possibly never met one. This has always been the case; true Christians - not in just name only - are few and far between. Matthew 15:7 "Hypocrites, well did Esaiah prophesy of you, saying, 'This people draw nigh to me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips; but their hearts are far from me."Gandhi loved the Sermon on the Mount and all its teachings and urged his followers to read certain parts of the Bible and adhere to those principles. But, he did not agree with the divinity of the Christ or that no one may enter heaven except through him.For Gandhi, "God is Truth" and vice versa. Christ, like Gandhi, was nonviolent. How many Christians are nonviolent? Therefore, the quote strikes a chord with most people because it rings as absolute truth. Christ wrote "Give away your possessions and follow me." Like Christ, Gandhi had no possessions.
There was no organization before Christ, so there was no name for them. While there were many Jews that became Christians, there were also others that had no religion. The wo…rd 'Christian' originated out of the word 'Christ' , so before Christ there were either Gentiles or Jews. Answer: The Jews first referred to Christians as "The Way" but this was after Christ began to teach.

Why do Christian Spiritualists call themselves Christian when they dont believe in the resurrection or the attonement of Christ so if jesus is not the Christ then how can they be Christians?
They can't... If Jesus isn't your Christ, savior, and Lord then you're not a Christian. Answer: There is no ultimate council or committee to determine any groups "official"… Christian status. As a consequence the identification is a self declaration. In short if you say you are then you are (at least in the eyes of yourselves) The rest of the non-Christiam world (more than 2/3 of the human race) doesn't care anyway.
There are six occurrences of the word rapture in the Bible; Psalms 28:7, Psalms 45:15, Psalms 51:8, Proverbs 5:19, Song of Songs 2:3 and Luke 1:67. Each of these is making ref…erence to "rapture" in the context of joy and delight. The original root word for rapture meant to be carried away. Theologians have used rapture to describe the taking up of the faithful in Revelation though the word itself does not appear there.
Well, it depends. Could be schizoid personality disorder, or you could just be one of the actually sane people who don't like the party scene. On a serious note, you might w…ant to do some research into the different disorders with "schizo" in their name. Then again, I'm probably completely wrong.
That was his family name. But not in any way related to Mahatma Gandhi.
Act 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciple…s were first called Christians in Antioch.
In Jesus Christ
Sons of God 1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we sha…ll see him as he is. Blessed Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
No, originally all Christians were simply Jews who followed Jesus. As the religion expanded however, the question of whether or not Gentiles (non-Jews) could be followers of C…hrist began to make the greater distinction. Soon all followers of Christ, whether originally Jews or Gentiles, where called "The Way". It wasn't until around the end of the first century that the term "Christian" began being used.
