Yes, he did. It is located in Hershey, Pa and is called Milton Hershey School. It was established in 1909.
To never give up and try again.
Milton Snaveley Hershey was fascinated with an exhibition in Chicago. He spent hours studying the chocolate making machinery. Finally, he made up his mind and decided to buy the machinery and ship it to Lancaster to make his own chocolate.
Yes. Hershey owned a chocolate Labrador retriever named Otto, in memory of Hershey's grandfather, Otto Hershey. Milton was greatly inspired by Otto, whose dream was to make healing elixirs available to the masses. He tended to drink up his inventory, however, and so never fulfilled his calling. Milton succeeded with chocolate where his grandfather had failed. The confection had always been limited to the privileged, until Hershey introduced his five-cent bar of milk chocolate that almost anyone could afford.
Milton Hershey's first successful candy making making business was selling caramel. He started the Lancaster Caramel Company. In 1900, he decided that since his best selling items were caramels dipped in chocolate that he wanted to pursue chocolate making. He sold his caramel company and with the proceeds bought 30 acres of dairy farm land and started perfecting his own recipe for good tasting and affordable milk chocolate (at the time milk chocolate was an expensive luxury). He produced his first Hershey chocolate bar in 1900 and followed up with the production of Hershey Kisses in 1907. He broke ground on what is now the Hershey Foods Corporation on March 2, 1903.

moved around a lot, he didn't get a good education, Milton, got a new baby sister, too, her name was Sarena. He was 4 years old when he got a new baby sister. When Milton's parents ( Henry and Fanny Hershey ) started talking about a war, little five-year-old Milton became frightned and in the garden, he buried a coffe can with the few coins he had inside the coffe can. When Milton wanted to dig up the coins, he dug holes for days but he could not find it! That's all I know!
He grew up on a farm in Henryville, Indiana.
