Who did Barack Obama admit to that he did drugs?

President Obama has been very public about his drug use in his youth; he even wrote about it in his autobiography. He acknowledged that in high school, he went through a period of time when he was doing some things that he now regrets, and using drugs (mostly marijuana) was one of the examples he gave.

In August 2008 he was interviewed at the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. When asked by Pastor Rick Warren what was his greatest moral failure, then Senator Obama replied, "There were times where I experimented with drugs and I drank in my teenage years." This has been misquoted elsewhere as an admission of cocaine use but he makes no reference to specific drugs.

Yes he did. President Obama admitted in his memoir "Dreams from my Father" that he did try cocaine in high school and again in college. But he said he did not like it, and that his drug of choice during that time was marijuana. However, at some point early in his college years, he decided to stop using drugs entirely, and focus on his career goals. He continued to smoke cigarettes, a habit he struggled with for another two decades until finally quitting in 2011.
