At the onset of Desert Storm II, American policy makers came to the conclusion that (1) Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) were stored in Iraq and ready for use, and (2) that Saddam Hussein's policies were destructive to peace in the region, principally because of the alleged WMD's. UN WMD inspectors were dispatched to Iraq, but at first were turned away, which fueled the flames. Finally, the US attacked Iraq, reportedly in order to recover or destroy any WMD, and to depose Saddam Hussein who, if the WMD's existed, had posed a clear and present danger to the US.
There are no substantiated reports of Iraqi-based terrorism against the US prior to Desert Storm II.

The War on Terrorism but more specifically in Afganistan and Iraq.
Part of the "Global War Against Terrorism."

Everything was peaceful in Iraq people living normal lives. No terrorism, no weapons. In America everything was fine too. The only war we were fighting was Afghanistan (2001). Then, America came in and attacked Iraq.
Technically, the "war on terrorism" is not a war. Bush never declared a war and he never got the approval of congress to go into Iraq.
You're not. The Iraq War ended with a whimper by May 2008 with Iranian-backed terrorists trying to destabilize the new democratic government of Iraq routed, and Iraq no longer the base for international terrorism it had been throughout the Saddam Hussein dictatorship.
Replacing Sadam Hussein's government with a democratic government was intended to stabilize Iraq and to eliminate the weapons of mass destruction that Sadam Hussein claimed to posses. By stabilizing Iraq, it was expected that it would stabilize the region.

Increased terrorism.
For America, I would say the War in Iraq/War on Terrorism. As far as wars worldwide, I'm not sure.
9/11 caused George W. Bush to launch a war against terrorism. When we went looking for Bin Laden in Afganistan, it brought us to the conflict occurring in Iraq
