CD Roms can only Read CD's such as VCD, Audio CD, mp3 CD.
DVD Roms can read any CD's such as VCD, Audio CD, mp3 CD and also read DVD's such as DVD Video, DVD Audio & DVD mp3's.
Nope... the data on a DVD-ROM is packed much tighter. A CD-ROM cannot read DVD's but a DVD-ROM can read CD's

DVD-r is basically an untouched disc..... completely empty or not completely filled but has permission for writing data into it..... DVD-ROM is a finalized disc. No data can be written to it. It can only be read not written to.
One is encoded for the xbox 360 only. So people dont copy the xbox 360 disks. but you can make it so it can read the disks and work.

CDROM drives do not get infected with virus. May be there is a driver problem. You can first run one of the free anti-virus like AVG and enable your CD ROM drive if you want to reinstall OS from a CD/DVD. - Neeraj Sharma
DVD is the same as DVD ROM, i think? either that or it means the drive you put the DVD/CD in. the drive is where you put the disks, (for all of you cave men). SO EITHER dvd MEANS DVD ROM or ROM is where you put the dvd
