Answerdepends the 305 cam is a little iffy i just replaced one that was worn out with only 74,000 miles on it and it was driven by a grandma and never use cheap oilyes I can.

in 82 there were no relays controlling the fuel pump it is mecanically driven off the motor no electric its driven offf i believe the cam or crank not shure which one without going out side to look at mine.
It does not have a timing belt. The cam is chaindriven.
It is a hydraulic camshaft, Not a roller cam. Chevy did not start using roller cams until late 1995
