The practice of plural marriage was officially abandoned in 1890, and the church issued an official manifesto ordering an end to polygamy.

The Mormon Church no longer supports the practice of plural marriage, and requires its members to abide by the law.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons or LDS Church) ended the practice of polygamy in 1890, making an official public declaration against plural marriage. There are small groups that have left the LDS Church who have resumed the practice. The LDS Church excommunicates any person who practices polygamy.

No Mormons do not have multiple wives today. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) outlawed the practice of polygamy in 1890. Anyone found entering into a polygamous relationship since that time has been excommunicated.

No, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) cannot have two wives at the same time. Mormons may be married to only one person at a time, but if they are widowed or divorced they may remarry. In this way, a man may have two (or more) wives over the course of his lifetime, but not at the same time.

Mormons did accept the practice of polygamy (having more than one wife) from about 1840 to 1890, when the practice was banned by the church. Polygamy has been renounced and rejected by the Mormon church for over 120 years. Anyone found in a polygamous relationship today is excommunicated from the Church immediately.

The early Mormons did practise polygamy. In fact William Law was excommunicated in 1844 for opposing polygamy. Polygamy was officially abandoned in 1890, under United States government pressure. We now find in the Book of Mormon (Jacob 2:24-7): "Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord ... For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;" The Mormon Church no longer supports the practice of polygamy.

Do Mormon have two wifesAsk us anything?

No, Mormon men do not have two wives. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) may have only one wife (or husband) at a time. In the case of divorce or death, Mormons may remarry. So, a Mormon man might have two wives in his lifetime, but not two wives at the same time. For a period of time between approximately 1840 and 1890, the Church allowed the practice of polygamy (having more than one wife) as it is practiced in the Old Testament of the Bible. However, since 1890, any Mormon found to be practicing polygamy has been excommunicated from (kicked out of) the church. There were some who were angry with the 1890 ban on polygamy who formed their own breakaway groups. These people often call themselves "Mormon Fundamentalists", but they are not affiliated with the Mormon Church in any way.

Where can a Mormon have two wives?

Nowhere. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) has outlawed the practice of polygamy amongst it's members since 1890 - even in nations where polygamy is legal. Any Mormon man found to have two wives (no matter where he lives) is excommunicated from the church.

Does Mormon religion approve more than one wives to men?

No. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) banned the practice of polygamy (having multiple wives) over 120 years ago, in October 1890. Anyone found in a polygamous relationship is excommunicated from (kicked out of) the Church. There are some who refer to themselves as 'fundamentalist Mormons' who practice polygamy. These groups are not affiliated with the mainstream Mormon church. They broke from the Mormon church to form their own churches when the Mormon church outlawed the practice of polygamy.
