No, Mormons and Christians are not the same thing. Mormons are a relatively small group within the much larger Christian community. This question is similar to asking if Volkswagens and cars are the same thing. Volkswagens are cars, but there are other kinds of cars, too. Likewise, Mormons are Christians, but there are many other types of Christians, too.

This is a difficult question to answer...

Yes, in the sense that they worship God the Father and Jesus Christ.

No, in the sense that Christians worship the Trinity, and Mormons do not believe in the Trinity but believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three separate and distinct beings.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) IS a Christian denomination. The difference is that the are a "Restorationist" Christian denomination, rather than a "Protestant", "Orthodox", or "Catholic" Christian denomination. Restorationist Christians believe that the true Church of Jesus Christ had to be restored to the earth through direct revelation, rather than reformed from the Catholic Church.

Many of their beliefs are very similar to other Christian denominations, but obviously they aren't the same, otherwise the Church would be pointless. Latter-day Saints believe in God the Father. They believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that salvation comes through him. They also believe in the Holy Spirit. Unlike most other Christian denominations, they believe that the Father, Son, and Spirit are separate beings united in purpose, and that the Father and the Son have tangible bodies similar to man's. Latter-day Saints, like other Christians, use The Bible as the Word of God, but they also use the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Also, Latter-day Saints believe that God still calls prophets today, while most Christian denominations preach that prophets ended in Biblical times. There are also several other differences in doctrine, but the core - the fact that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of man - is the same across all Christian denominations, including Mormonism.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) are Christian because they believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior and that the Bible is the Word of God. Mormons believe that at baptism they dedicate their lives to following Jesus Christ and being and example of Him.

Mormons are Christians. Mormonism is a type of Christianity - just like Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, and Catholic are types of Christianity. Like all Christians, Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior and that the Bible is the Word of God. "Mormon" is just a nickname - the real name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The LDS (Mormons) are ONE of the Christian religions. Just as all cars are not Fords, but all Fords are cars- all Christians are not Mormon, but all Mormons are Christians.
