Tough question because it is a matter of degrees. Some dogs like bulldogs have poor senses of smell compared to bloodhounds. Rats have excellent senses of smell, perhaps as good as a bloodhounds adjusting for the size difference between the species. But since both species have similar olfactory nerves, the bloodhound would have to be the 'winner' due to the surface areas inside the nose cavities (maybe 50 times larger than a rats). I have read dozens of veterinary reports on this type of subject and most are inconclusive. The title of 'world most sensitive sense of smell' goes to a certain specie of moth, that can reportedly smell a few molecules of a female moths hormones from miles away. The problem is that the testing equipment used for the test is not nearly that accurate. I would suspect that the same is true in the case of the rat vs. the bloodhound.
dogs
To me, I think that dogs have a better sense of smell. That's why policemen use dogs to track criminals.
I believe some tracking dogs and hounds have the keenest sense of smell.
According to scientists, they did. In fact, they were thought to have an even better sense of smell than dogs, and dogs' sense of smell if around 60 times better than a person's.
I can't say. All dogs have a very good sense of smell, big or small. Springer Spaniels (Small to medium sized dogs) and Bloodhounds (Large dogs) both have a good sense of smell.
There sense of smell is definitely better than ours

There sense of smell is definitely better than ours
Certainly yes. Dogs have a keen sense of smell that is much better than humans.
Dogs are capable to smelling fire from long distances. They have a much greater sense of smell than humans and are used extensively in rescues for this reason.
yes,like better sense of smell
No, not as a rule. Dogs rely on the sense of smell and do not hunt by sight primarily, as do cats.
