∙ 13y agoYes, people in China absolutely go to school. It is absolutely compulsory.
Unlike western countries though, most Chinese students finish their schooling at the 9th grade. About 20% continue on to what would be considered a high school level education and then only 20% of these continue into college. Chinese consider education very important. So much that if a student has doubts about their future in a career field they would likely leave the program in order to avail the spot to another student.
