Crawdads are freshwater crustaceans that look like little lobsters. Related to lobsters, crawdads breathe through gills and live in waters that don't freeze to the bottom

Response: That fails to answer my question. I was looking for information regarding cats, not "crawdads".

Yes, Crayfish can breath out of water as long as their gills are wet my pet Mexican dwarf stays out of water hours on end sometimes, before getting back in they have the ability to pull oxygen straight out of the air with their specialized gill chambers. an ability that God gave them amazing.

Crayfish can breathe under water. It is not a good to pull them out of the water to often. They can become stressed and die. Provide plenty of hiding spots that can not be accessed by aggressive fish.
