I would keep it between 75 and 82 degrees. Goldfish can tolerate constant water temperatures up to 90 degrees. Higher than that is bad for them though.

Be aware that warm water holds less oxygen, so the higher the temperature, the more water volume you need to give them. The standard formula of 2 gallons per inch of fish (not including fins) is assuming coldish (60s or lower) water. If it is warmer than that you need to give the fish more space.

No, but being amongst the very dirtiest of fish they do however need very good filtration or a very large, well planted pond to live in. Growing to almost 1 metre in length they are certainly not suited to being kept in aquaria.

Betta fish do not need heaters to live. But I live by the term of surviving isn't thriving. Meaning your Betta fish may live without a heater, but it is in your fishes best interest to have a heater. Betta's prefer temperatures of 78* - 82*. They are Tropical fish so they like warm waters. If you are planning on buying a heater I recommend a submerge able shatter proof heater with instant shut off.

Yes, but they prefer to be around 65F-70F as opposed to tropical 80F.

Do mollies need a heater?

well, goldfish don't need a heater, so if they can live with a goldfish, then yes, they shouldn't need a heater. I'm gonna try to put a couple mollies (maybe like 2, or 3) in with a goldfish. they "would" be in a, um, I think it's a 1 gallon tank, that has an air bubble filter, thing, that goes in at the bottom of the tank, and it also has a hood, with a light.... You should try it, cause you never know what nature will bring you! Have fun! :):):)

Can guppies live in the same aquarium as a goldfish?

No. Guppies need a heater, whereas gold fish will overheat. Also, they will eat the guppies.

Do goldfish need a water heater?

Goldfish are coldwater fish and will do best in very cool water. However goldfish can live with a heater as long as it is set very low:about 60-70 F degrees.Heaters can actually be good for a goldfish tank because it will keep the tanks temperature from changing often though I'd recommend using a chiller if you have problems with the tanks temp. changing.

Can you put a goldfish in a one and a half gallon bowl?

If it is a small goldfish, it will physically fit in something that small. But, it will not live very long in it. If you wish to keep goldfish alive, you need at least ten gallons of water for each goldfish along with a good filter and a heater to keep the water temperature stable. With proper care goldfish can easily live 15+ years.

What temperature is a goldfishes tank ment to be?

That you need a new goldfish

What is the average life span of a goldfish with proper care is?

1O years minimum, 15-20 years maximum. The oldest goldfish record was in his 40's, I think. Goldfish need about 10 gallons a fish, give or take a few. A friend is good for your goldfish, as long as they are friendly, hence the word 'friend'. Control the pH levels and feed properly, about as much as they can eat in 1-3 minutes, depending on how hungry a fish he always is, DO NOT OVERFEED. Have a filter and heater. A heater is not necessary, but works for mine. I don't know how hot the heater should be, mine is around 70 degrees fairenheit. Don't take my word for it, I'm not sure about the heater. Hope this helps:).

Why do every fish you put in your tank die except your goldfish?

Goldfish are a hardy species and can survive in worse water conditions than most fish. The basic rules for keeping fish healthy are :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water, a permanently running cycled filter and at least 50% of its water changed every week. If you apply those basic rules your fish should be OK. I am assuming you are not trying to mix Tropical fish with Goldfish. If you are, then you need to get a heater for the tropicals so that they can be kept warm enough (75F). The goldfish would need to be kept in a different tank that has no heater.

What kinda fish would go well in a 10 gallon fresh water aquarium and would any of these fit together Calico Ryukin Goldfish guppy betta Shubunkin Goldfish neons and what others would fit with an?

Neon tetras, guppies, and bettas are warm water fish(they need a heater) and calico ryukins and shubunkins are cold water(don't need a heater) so none would really fit together except the warm waters. I have a shubunkin goldfish, common goldfish, and 2 dojo/weather loaches in a 29gal, but they used to be in a 10gal. I recommend another double tailed goldfish if you have the ryukin(single tailed will be faster and nip at the others fins and eat all of the food).

Can you put a goldfish in a tank without a fillter?

Yes. A goldfish can live without a filter. They may not live as long, but they do not have to have a filter, or a heater. I had goldfish in a five gallon tank without a filter for a long time. Hope that this helps.

How much are heaters for fish tanks?

Heater/thermostat units come in many sizes. I have found that pet shops charge far too much for them here in Australia so I always buy mine off the web. for example a 300 watt heater/thermostat at the local pet shop was $Aus98.00 +. On the web after searching a bit, the identical heater/thermostat cost me $Aus35.00.including postage. My advice is to google and look around and compare prices.
