I don't think it matters really. I am 16 and my boyfriend is 20, and we are looking to get married in Las Veags, and we looked up that all you have to have is a document confrming that your parents gave you permission. So, good luck!

As soon as you're 16 you can get married, but yeah, you still need your parents consent to get married, a signed piece of paper won't just do it.

It depends on the laws of the state in which the marriage is to take place. Some states require at least one parent actually being present when the license is obtained. Other states will accept notarized statement giving parental permission. There are cases where minor's have gotten married using false indentification or fraudulent documents, this would result in the marriage being deemed invalid if challenged for instance by the minor's parents. There are a few states that require anyone under the age of eighteen,to not only obtain parental permission but also attend a counseling session and there will be a longer waiting period before the marriage can take place. For a marriage to be legal in any state all the required documents must be valid.

If you are 19 and your girlfriend is 16 can you legally get married without her parents' permission in the state of Georgia?

No, she would need the consent of both parents or the parent who has full custodial rights (or a legal guardian). The exception is pregnancy, she then will not need parental consent but must present a statement to the court, from a licensed Georgia physician validating the pregnancy.

Do you need both parents consent to get married at 16 in Arkansas?

If both parents are still alive and both have custody, then you need consent from both of them. In the event that one is no longer alive or doesn't have custody, then you have to provide proof of that (a death certificate or a custody order). And just FYI if the 16-year-old is a male, they cannot marry without a court order approving/allowing it.

How old to marry?

Usually 18... some places 17... in Georgia 16 if you are pregnant. 16 in some places if you have written consent from both parents, legal guardian, or the family court. In some places like Alaska you need to be 16 and have consent of both parents who must be present. The only way to get around that (in places without present parents) would to have (not recommended) forged written consent. "Told ya it would not be recommended!"

If a 17- and 21-year-old have a baby together can they get married without the parental consent?

The only state that allows for minors under the age of 18 to get married without parental consent if the bride is pregnant is Georgia.\Georgia: If you are 16 or 17 years old, you may apply if accompanied by both parents who have given written consent. If the bride is pregnant, no parental consent is required if you submit a statement from a Georgia licensed physician certifying that the bride is pregnant. If underage applicants already have a child, they should present a certified copy of the birth certificate for the child at the time of application. If parental consent is not required, the court will notify parents or guardians that you have been issued a marriage license.
