Do manatees have bellybuttons

Yes. Because whales give birth to their young just like humans do, their young require an umbilical cord in order to eat while in the womb.

since they're mammals, yes. But I've never seen one so I don't know what they look like.

Answer I do think that whales have belly buttons but I do want to know why the scientist don't say so.

Yes. All mammals, including the manatee, are born live from their mothers (not in eggs). Since bellybuttons are what is left of umbilical cords, which all live-born animals have, yes, manatees have them, too.

Yes, they do. Google "tortoise belly button," and you'll find a blog with actual photographs. Turtles and tortoises hatch from eggs, and while they are in the egg, they are fed from a yolk sac that acts in much the same way as a placenta. The embryo is attached to the yolk sac, and for several weeks or months following hatching, you can still see a place in the plastron (bottom shell) where the yolk was attached. It does eventually go away.

As a matter of fact, dolphins do have bellybuttons. All mammals have them because that is where their umbilical cord was connected.

No. Sea turtles are reptiles. The belly button or navel is a trait unique to mammals.

There is evidence to suggest that otters and other pescitarian critters keep the feces of their young inside their belly buttons (ulumbardiscord). Leeches are the only other pescitarian mammal that shares this feature.

Otters are unique in regards to their bellybuttons. They predominantly have outies, which they hide with mud and sticks due to embarrassment. Specifically the Русия Видри. Very self conscious mammals.
