AnswerNO, though one meal a day is definitely not enough, and throwing up after eating is not good. This COULD develop into a) anorexia or b) bulimia. You need to get help now, before it gets really bad and you will not be able to stop as easily. AnswerThe eating disorder you have is called bulimia and it can seriously damage your body. Find someone who can help you develop a healthy relationship with food. AnswerI've had this for about 4 months now, and i think i have bulimia. So if I eat only 1 meal a day and snacks, then i exercise hardcore and throw up every single thing I have eaten, does that mean i have eaten 0 calories? and how come the size of my body is becoming insanely smaller but my weight is not shifting?

Answer:

Actually its NOT Bulimia Nervosa that you have- if you have an eating disorder at all. You cannot be diagnosed via the internet, you will need to be evaluated by a mental health professional. However, if you are not binging, just eating small amounts of food and purging it (both by vomiting and exercise) this is a sub-clinical eating disorder called Eating Disorder Not Otherwise specified or EDNOS. Since this has only been 4 months I would say you fall into this category because you are just developing the symptoms of an Eating disorder and its not yet full blown. EDNOS is still very very serious and deadly if you allow it to continue, it is as serious as having anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder..

I suggest you talk to your family doctor or nurse at your school/free clinic/etc about this. Hospitalization/treatment center is not needed at this point so you don't have to worry about being 'locked up'. In order to stop this now and not let it become a more serious problem, you may want to seek counseling to determine why these symptoms are now showing themselves, and to help you find better ways to cope with life/stresses/etc. I can honestly say if you do the work in therapy it IS possible to recover!

Its quite possible. Its way healthier for you eat several small meals or snacks than to eat just one. Being anorexic is really bad for you. You could get seriously sick doing that. If you're considering becoming anoreic, consider why. If you want to be thinner, don't do it! Models are impossibly thin, so don't try to matchh their waist size to yours. Be happy with who you are. If you to shed off a few pounds, try eating less junk food and getting at least 20 minutes of exercsie per day. Running or walknig is a good exercise. Anorexia nervosa is considered a psychiatric disorder. It is not necessarily defined in how much you eat and what you eat. Look at this (from Wikipedia): To be diagnosed as having anorexia nervosa, according to the DSM-IV-TR, a person must display: 1. Refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height (e.g., weight loss leading to maintenance of body weight less than 85% of that expected; or failure to make expected weight gain during period of growth, leading to body weight less than 85% of that expected). 2. Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat. 3. Disturbance in the way in which one's body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of the current low body weight. 4. In postmenarcheal, premenopausal females (women who have had their first menstural period but have not yet gone through menopause), amenorrhea (the absence of at least three consecutive menstrual cycles). If you do not think that you fit any of these criteria but you are still restricting your diet, I would do what the former said and take a ook at yourself. ask why you are doing this to yourself. Anorexia can stem from many different things like depression. More often than not, anorexia and bulimia are more about control. Look at your life. Has something in your life significantly changed recently? Are there things you have not dealt with. I think the best advice is to look at your life and if you feel there is something unresolve, then I would suggest you seek professionla help.

Not neccesarily, that would depend more on your state of nutrition. However, eating only one meal isn't the most sensible approach, regardless of how healthy and well balanced that meal might be.

The difference from an eating disorder and a mere quirk is this:

is the behavior making your life unmanageable? Is it hurting your health?

Your relationships? Is your job at risk?

If not, it isn't such a big deal that you're living on tuna Sandwiches.

If the answer is "yes," then get yourself to a 12-step meeting for people suffering from eating disorders.

These groups know exactly what the sufferer is going through because they are all living with the same disorder(s), although each may be at a different stage of recovery/functionality. The principles they espouse are rock-solid. It's an ingenious program. No matter how smart or well-educated a doctor is, he/she is looking at you and your disorder... from the outside.

It would depend on why you are skipping meals and why you're throwing up, but it would be advisable to go and see a doctor.

no, there are many reasons for that. Some are stress, don't feel well and maybe part of pregnancy.
