You don't have to write to all three credit bureaus, but it's a good idea. They do not share information with one another, so correcting false data with one does not correct it with the other two. They all calculate scores differently. You have no way to know which bureau is going to be used by which creditor, so you want to make sure all of them have the most correct information.

How do you request to have your credit updated?

This will take awhile, but basically you write a letter to each of the three credit bureaus with copies of receipts, your social security number, and signature. The faster way is to have your creditor update the information they send in to the credit bureaus directly.

Where to get help correcting your credit report?

You may directly get help from any of the three major credit bureaus if you want to correct an entry in your credit report. Write one of them a letter with all the supporting documents for the correction attached to request for a correction. You may also write a letter to the company who supplied the wrong information that you are requesting for a correction with the credit bureau.

Does a bankruptcy automatically come off your credit report after ten years?

No, You will need to write all 3 credit bureaus and request that the information be removed. Credit bureaus are legally bound to remove negative information upon the expiration of such. Unfortunately all credit bureaus are lax in their record keeping and it is indeed often necessary for the consumer to send a letter of dispute containing the pertinent information to have such matters resolved.

How can a State Tax Lien be removed?

You can do this by requesting a printed credit report. Then you have to contact the state tax office to resolve any issues or debt. If there is a debt, you must pay it. Then, write a letter to the credit bureaus stating you have paid the debt in full. Credit bureaus may take 30 days to respond.

How do you remove collections from credit report?

Good question. There are a few tactics to remove collections from your credit report; First, is the debt paid off? If so, the option I would suggest is to write a dispute letter to that specific credit bureau. If the debt has not been paid yet, typically, you can negotiate with the creditor to remove the collection account from your credit report if you pay the debt (WARNING!!! make sure this is stated in writing before you send any money).

How do you go about removing a bankruptcy from 10 years ago by yourself?

First, order your credit reports from all three bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Second, write a letter of dispute requesting removal of the bankruptcy due to its' age to any bureau still showing the listing. Third, follow up and make sure that the bureaus complied with your request.

How can you get a bankruptcy removed from equifax when it has been removed from the other credit bureaus?

If you have checked your report from Equifax and a discharged bankruptcy is on there, you can simply write to them with the amendments and they are obliged to correct their report.

How do you erase credit pulls?

If the credit pulls were not authorized, write a letter to each of the bureaus that are reporting the inquiries, and let them know that they were not authorized. Legally, they should remove this information from your credit report if it is inaccurately reporting. If you did authorize the credit pulls, then this information will likely stay on your credit report for 1-3 years.

Can you get information removed from credit report that is almost 7 years old?

Depends on what you want taken off. If it is something reflecting good on your credit report than you want to keep it on there. That's what is helping your score. If it reflects bad and you dont owe the debt anymore, than write into all 3 credit bureaus disputing the debt, then the the bureaus will send a letter to the company for validation. The company has up to 10-20 days to respond. Once the company responds stating whether or not you owe the matter the credit bureaus will remove it if you dont owe it or notify you that you owe the debt.
