No my local channels all but one that is broadcast in both analog and HD digital but they tend to black out a lot. But with a powered antenna the kind you plug into the wall i get a beautiful crisp clean HD picture you can pick a good one up for around 30-40 bucks but don't buy the cheap 15 dollar one's :)

In most cases, if your TV is receiving signal from a cable provider (Comcast, DirectTV, etc) you are fine. Analog television sets receiving free TV using an antenna will not work after February 17, 2009. Television viewers with these sets that are not connected to a pay TV service will need to take action before February 17, 2009, to ensure their TV sets continue to work. All antennas are the same as far as receiving a signal. There are some antennas built for converter boxes that have a rotor (to better aim the antenna) and built in amplifier to boost the signal coming down the coax cable (something I strongly recommend) and use a special cable to connect to the converter box.

Usually you can receive digital cable on a digital or analog (old) tv, but what matters is that you have a digital cable "box." The digital cable box will usually have its own remote that can be setup to control other things such as the TV or DVD player in addition to the digital cable channel and guide options.

And be sure the cable Company is sending you a High Def. signal to that box. Most companies will charge more money for the HD stations.

You do actually need a digital tv box for every television in the home. However if you do not need digital channels for every room in your home just aim for the TVs you watch most, to receive digital channels you only need the digital box for that certain tv.

One does need a box from a cable provider for digital cable. One also needs a cable converter box in order to ensure that they are getting the digital transmissions.
